Now Accepting Preliminary Applications for COP26 Delegation

Climate Generation has sent delegations of youth, educators, and multi-sector representatives to annually participate in the global UN climate negotiations: the Conference of the Parties (COP) since 2009.

We’re excited to announce preliminary applications for our COP26 delegation are now open!

The United Nations 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) is set to take place in Glasgow, Scotland in November of 2021. Our Window into COP program sends representatives to observe the UN negotiations, attend side events throughout the host city, webcast back to the U.S., blog daily, and join individuals from around the world speaking truth to power on the importance of climate action.

This year’s delegation will represent professionals that support the work of Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE). ACE is a term adopted by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to denote work under Article 6 of the Convention (1992) and Article 12 of the Paris Agreement. The overarching goal of ACE is to empower all members of society to engage in climate action, through education, training, public awareness, public participation, public access to information, and international cooperation on these issues.

COP26 represents a pivotal moment in time for globally increasing ambition on greenhouse gas reduction. In addition, with the United States officially returning to the Paris Agreement, and announcing a commitment to cut our greenhouse emissions in half by 2030, demonstrating a strong U.S. presence of support to our global community.

Climate Generation’s COP26 delegation of climate leaders will witness and share back their experiences, a unique opportunity to inspire the continued leadership of these individuals involved, and motivate further action by their followers. The delegation will learn from and connect with the US ACE Framework and the global PowerClimateAction campaign.

This preliminary application is open to all ages 18+, with priority selection of applicants in Midwest states and diverse backgrounds, including People of Color, Indigenous people, people from working class backgrounds, women, LGBTQ+, and all people of varying and intersecting identities.

NOTE: Climate Generation recognizes that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, COP26 may be held virtually, or with limited or no NGO participation, or postponed until 2022. Climate Generation will make every effort to adjust the plans of this program in accordance with UN decisions and the safety of our staff and delegation.
