Climate Conferences

Our Window into COP program brings global climate policy to life through the intergenerational, multi-racial voices of youth, educators, artists, and community leaders attending the annual U.N. climate conference.

UNFCCC’s Conference of the Parties (COP)

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) includes 197 countries (Parties) committed to preventing human interference with the Earth’s climate system. Since 1995, they have hosted annual COPs to negotiate global climate action commitments.

COPs and the Paris Agreement

In 2015, 196 countries finalized and signed the Paris Agreement – the first global climate accord that commits all signatories to climate action. Learn more about the progress and hurdles since its creation to limit Earth’s warming to a safe level.
