Digital Media Assistant

Position Overview ‍

Climate Generation is hiring for a digital media assistant to support the capacity and growth of its communications department. The digital media assistant will be responsible for supporting content creation and engagement for Climate Generation’s social media channels and digital campaigns. The assistant would also be responsible for supporting analytics and tracking of social media campaigns, engagement, calls to action, and platform growth. This position will report to the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager. This is a part-time position, 8–15 hours per week, through July 2023 at a rate of $27–30/hr.

Role Scope of Work

  • Create / repurpose written and/or video content to maintain monthly social media strategy aligned with communications strategy goals, climate change news and timely content, program and fundraiser marketing campaigns, audience and partner identification and cultivation, page growth tactics, etc. 
  • Create written content for social media graphics designed by Communications Coordinator for campaigns and flagship programs including the Summer Institute for Climate Change Education, Talk Climate Institute, Window into COP program, Youth Climate Justice Summit, storytelling and Teach Climate Network workshops, and fundraising events and appeals. 
  • Post and schedule content as outlined in the organization’s social media calendar and editorial plan. 
  • Interact with and steward followers through comments and tags, answering questions, and sharing partner content through the organization’s social pages.
  • Assist Senior Marketing and Communications Manager in the growth of Climate Generation’s brand by raising awareness through content marketing, no-click content, evergreen ads, etc.  
  • Provide timely analytics when requested for monthly YOY tracking of social media metrics such as engagement, impressions, top followers, etc. 
  • Join weekly communications team editorial check-ins to brainstorm, create, and stay up-to-date on social media calendar and campaigns. 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated 1-3 years of relevant communications and/or social media experience (be able to provide examples of social media campaigns, writing samples, etc.)-
  • General knowledge of social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Linkedin, and the different writing styles and strategies for each platform.
  • Experience tracking metrics and analytics strongly preferred.
  • Familiar with multi-social posting through programs such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Buffer, etc. (Sprout Social preferred).
  • Interest in and experience with creating short-form video content preferred.
  • Comfortable working with Google Workspace tools like Docs, Sheets, etc.
  • Comfort and knowledge in using internal communication tools like Asana, Slack, etc. strongly preferred. 
  • Experience determining how to cater marketing content to a unique audience.
  • Ability to work alongside a diverse group of employees and simultaneously work toward many program and fundraising initiatives at one time.
  • Understanding of marketing strategy and how to use the concepts throughout various forms of outreach across digital platforms is preferred. 
  • General knowledge and/or experience of climate justice or other social justice causes

Compensation

This is a remote hourly, part-time or contract position through July 2023 of 8-15 hr/week at $27–30/hr. A mid-January 2023 start date is preferred.
