Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be an "activist" to join?
To us, activist means someone who takes action with others to make a difference. That can mean lots of different things. Not just what most people envision: protesting. YEA! youth choose what action they want to take; things like talking to friends and family, doing research with a team, making art, planning events, and sometimes making a ruckus.
Do I have to live in the Twin Cities to participate?
No! While our office is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, YEA! is a statewide network and we encourage any youth in Minnesota to join. We’re excited to support folks from outside the metro area to get involved.
Do I need access to the internet to participate?
While much of our programming is online, we still encourage you to get involved if you don’t have home access to the internet. This includes intensive role opportunities if you’re interested in applying. We will do our best to provide accommodations and support for you to participate.
Will I receive compensation for my participation?
Most youth in the Network are involved as volunteers. The only stipend-based roles are the intensive roles in the Network and for YEA! Campaigns you can apply for. You can reach out to Climate Generation staff to find out about other funding opportunities.
